MATCH REPORT
Egham Town 2 - 0 VWFC
The closest of neighbours met for the first time in a league fixture for 100 years!

Sadly for VW, the hosts were the better side on the day and deserved their victory in front of a very large crowd.

VW defended doggedly in the first half, with Guy Hollis, Adam Mills excelling at CB, albeit Matt in goal only had long shots and set pieces to deal with.

At the other end VW were let down on the rare occasions we got into threatening positions, by poor final balls and quality in the final third.

With the score 0-0 at the break, VW felt they would run out the stronger in the second half, but this was not to materialise.
The game changed on 55 minutes, when VW conceded a penalty, which was duly slotted home to make it 1-0 - no complaints there!

Soon after VW saw left back Max Samyint dismissed for a second bookable offence, but rather than weaken us, gave us some momentum to push for an equaliser, which was endorsed by the impact of our substitutions off the bench.

VW had their best period, with Guy seeing a header cleared off the line, Josh Dillon and debutant Turnell Sinclair having goal bound shots blocked.

After numerous corners, VW felt they too should have had a penalty, only for the referee to see it the other way, and sin binned Adam for dissent.

This ended the game as a contest, and with VW down to 9 men, Egham got their second with practically the last kick of the game.
Congratulations to Egham on a deserved victory in the end, and we wish them well for the season ahead.
