Waters Look Forward to Big Kick Off
Virginia Water make their bow in the Hellenic League, at home to Chalfont Wasps. Manager Ceri Jones almost has a full squad to choose from; Finn Evered, Tom Curran, Michael Chambers and Martin Peters are unavailable for selection and last season's top scorer Adam McNamara is unlikely to be involved as he continues his recovery from ankle surgery, after battling most of last season with the nagging injury. Despite the absences, Waters will take a full compliment of 5 substitutes for their first game.
Waters go into the game on the back of two consecutive pre-season losses, however, Jones and assistants Richard Banks and Matt Edwards have been pleased with the progress and work from the squad having been involved in some tough games against opponents ranked in higher divisions than themselves. The application of the players has been first class, and they are looking forward to the challenge.
Goalkeeper Matthew Jones commented, "The lads are buzzing. We know it's going to be a tough game today and a challenging season ahead, but we are confident that we can give a good account of ourselves."
The game kicks off at 3pm at Stag Meadow, Windsor, entry to the game is £6 and includes a match day programme.
