GWAFL Division 3

This was an impressive performance by the Waters lads today, they played like a team for long periods of the match and thoroughly deserved their victory.
Attacking down the slope in the first half on a gluey playing surface they quickly put the opposition to the sword by some fine attacking football. Alex SSenabulya back from long term injury barely looked like he’d been away as first a stunning 20 yard chip from him into the far corner and then a fine run and cross for Levi Jefford to fire home put Waters 2-0 a head after 12 minutes.
More goals followed, a brilliant Jefford free kick from 25 yards into the far right hand top corner and a fox in the box goal from young Duncan MacDougal made it 4-0 after 30 minutes. A well-deserved goal by team motivator Ross Miller with a bullet header from a corner put the game to bed before halftime, it was hard to believe it was 5-0 as Guildford were up for it and trying for 45 minutes to get back into the match but they met with stiff resolve from a well organised Waters defence .
Guildford in the second half attacking downhill, became a different proposition. Some of the Waters lads began to tire too and taking their foot of the pedal a little being 5-0 up Guildford spent long periods in the Waters half. Led by Miller and May Waters defended well but the pressure told and Guildford pulled back a couple of goals to give their game an air of respectability that their gameness deserved.
Waters could have added to their goal tally but their finishing second half was chalk and cheese compared to their first half efforts and they had to settle for a good 5-2 victory.
