Horsley vs VWFC
26/11/2016 Horsley 1 - 1 Virginia Water
Surrey Elite League Reserve Division
Report by Rob Lamb
Virginia Water Reservs had plenty of chances to go in front in the first half and should have been at least 3 up but it was Horsley who against the run of play went in at half time 1-0.
Waters fielded yet another changed side and at times played some decent football, some good performances today.
Dean and Dave Guy held it together at the heart of the defence and won their fair share of challenges. Gary Clark and Luke Sperling worked well together in the middle of the park and it was Sperling's third attempt at goal that drew Waters level, his well hit shot hit the right hand corner of the net past the sprawling Horsley goalkeeper, another fine performance from the captain.
Waters looked like they were going on to win the game, however, with five minutes to go it was the home side that piled on the pressure and could have won the game, Matt Hargreaves pulled off two fabulous saves to keep the score level and ensured that Waters returned to The Timbers with a point, which was the least the effort and performance deserved.
MoM = Matt Hargreaves
