VWFC vs South Reading
27/01/2018 Virginia Water Reserves 0-1 South Reading
Reading Invitational Junior Cup
Report by Steve Cox
Virginia Water’s Reserves tamely exited the Reading Cup as they succumbed to a 1st minute goal, and then failed to register one decent shot on the South Reading goal for the rest of the match - a statistic that exposes their season long problem of being totally toothless in front of the opposition’s goal.
The first half could have been worse if it was not for debutant goalkeeper Dan Roach making some decent saves to keep it at 1-0.
The second period probably saw a better effort from the home side, maybe the tough tackling visitors began to tire, but little or no ambition in and around the South Reading penalty area saw Waters limp out of yet another cup competition. It seems that, in a chastening season, Waters have forgotten how to win matches.
