VWFC vs Abbey Rangers
11/03/2017 Virginia Water 1 - 4 Abbey Rangers
Surrey Elite League Reserve Division
Report by Rob Lamb
Virginia Water's reserves were hoping to keep a 100% home league record going until the end of the season but unfortunately it didn't happen last weekend.
Waters started with a 4-5-1 formation and for the first 10 minutes of the game looked solid. The home side went 1-0 up when Steve Mills scored a great goal in the first half. However a defensive error at the back led to Abbey Rangers levelling shortly after.
Too much moaning and a lack of organisation at the back led to one of the Abbey strikers latching on to a through ball and scoring again. It was a well taken goal considering it was such a tight angle, but it gave the impetous to the away side.
With the score 2-1 to Abbey at half time, manager Rob Lamb tried his hardest to rally the players - however this didn't work and Abbey scored twice in the second half, their fourth goal a peach of a free kick from the edge of the area. Virginia Water reserves have 5 games remaining, let's hope it gets better as they look to end the season on a brighter note.
