Merrow vs VWFC
01/04/2017 Merrow 0 - 3 Virginia Water
Surrey Elite Intermediate League
Report by Ceri Jones

Virginia Water bounced back with a convincing win away at Merrow, and all but guaranteed a top two league finish other than a mathematical miracle.
Waters controlled the game from start to finish, albeit did have Matt Jones to thank for two important saves before their first goal.
When it came after 30 minutes, it was from Marc Lansdowne (joint MoM), who nodded in one of Waters’ many corners.
Up until then the away side had many chances with Paul Burrows, Louis Sanders, Josh Hill, Dan Whatford and Ryan Curtis all going close.
The defence were solid enough, with yet another clean sheet this season! Waters’ fitness and ability told in the second half, with Curtis getting the second; A long throw from Finn Evered was nodded on, and Curtis headed home from close range.
The third, and Curtis’ second, came when a clearance from Jones found Adam McNamara, who crossed for Curtis to slot home.
There were numerous other chances that came and went, whilst Waters had little or no shots to defend of their own.
Liam Hill (joint MoM) ran the midfield, well supported by Joe McBride, Whatford and the returning Steve Williams.
The full backs Josh Hill and Max Samyint did not put a foot wrong, and it proved a tough, if very convincing work out.
Waters’ fantastic run in the league continues, as they push hard towards a potential winner takes all season finale with Tooting Bec.
Well done lads
Happy Days!
