AFC Cubo vs VWFC
15/10/2016 AFC Cubo 0 - 4 Virginia Water
Surrey Elite Challenge Cup
Report by Dave McBride
It was not a good start for Waters - arriving late as the venue was a nightmare to find, Waters were hurried in their preparation, so after just a few inspirational words from stand in managers Richard Banks and Dave McBride, it was all good to go.
On a very questionable surface, and without any dugouts, the game had the feel of a training session, not that it affected the players. A hat trick from Adam McNamara in the first 25 minutes, including a contender for team goal of the season, put Waters in a very commanding position and with keeper Matt Hargreaves in confident mood things looked good.
Strong performances in the spine from Marc Lansdowne and Joe McBride kept AFC Cubo at arms length throughout the first half and with the always dangerous Martin Peters up front this game was never in doubt.
In the second half Adam McNamara was replaced and the welcome return of Jake 'Rocky' Baker continued the threat and with the game not in question Finn Evered came on and Waters went to a three at the back and changed their shape
The 4th goal was only a matter of time and Max Samyint converted from the spot after a hand ball in the box.
Big test this week as Waters take on Ripley at Windsor, returning to league action.
