Reading City v VWFC
15/10/2018 Reading City 5-1 Virginia Water
Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup
Report by Ceri Jones

Waters' Finn Evered and Matt Jones
Virginia Water were dumped out of the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup at the first hurdle, after suffering a crushing defeat away at high flying Reading City.
In a repeat of their previous match, Waters were on top for an hour, and led through a well-taken Josh Guichard goal mid-way through the first half.
Waters had chances and could well have added to the score line, but not for the first time this season, their profligacy in front of goal was costly.
At the other end, Matt Jones in goal made a couple of crucial saves, but no one expected the capitulation that followed in the second half from the away side.
After being pegged back to 1-1 from sloppy defending, Waters went behind when the referee dismissed a clear handball from the home side, and from the resulting counter attack City went ahead when Michael Parker headed home unmarked from six yards out.
As Waters tired, they were overrun late on and, sadly for the management team, conceded a number of late goals that compounded the second half display.
It was certainly a game to forget for Ceri Jones, who will expect a reaction when his team travel to Holmer Green on Saturday.
