Virginia Water Football Club was formed at the start of the 1920/21 season and joined the Woking & District League, staying until 1964, when they moved to the Surrey Intermediate League.
In the early years they played at "The Paddock".In 1972 they moved to their present ground "The Timbers" the opening being performed by the then president of FIFA Sir Stanley Rouse.
In the 1970's they gained promotion into the Combined Counties from the Spartan League.
The 1980's were disappointing, with relegation in successive seasons from the Combined Counties and Surrey Premier League into the South Eastern Combination.
In the 1990's their fortunes changed with promotion from the South Eastern Combination (Runners up) and Surrey Premier (Champions) in successive seasons into the Combined Counties.Due to League rulings they were relegated after one season into the Surrey Premier League.
The 1996/97 season was the pinnacle in the "WATERS" history when they achieved the "Magnificent Treble"by winning the Surrey County Premier Cup (3rd year in succession) Surrey Premier League and the Surrey Premier League Cup.
In 2000 the Surrey Premier League became the Surrey Senior League where "WATERS" stayed until they resigned in 2002 and joined the Surrey Intermediate League (Western) Premier Division.
The 2004/05 season was another low point when they were relegated to Division 1 but they returned the following season (2005/06) after finishing in 2nd position.
In the 2009/10 season it was double success, gaining promotion to the Surrey Elite League after finishing in 2nd position and winning the Surrey County Intermediate Cup.
