Disappointing season

There were high expectations at the start of the season, after finishing in 7th position in 2006/07.

The management team of Mick Smith and his assistant Richard Goffe were confident of achieving the clubs expectation of promotion. In 2008/09 there would be a new league formed called Surrey Elite entry criteria was a top 6 position. There was still the big prize, win the league and gain promotion into Combind Counties Division 1.

The season started to plan 2 wins, 1 draw and a League cup win in the first 4 games. Then 2 league defeats was followed by thrashing Staines Lammas Reserves 5-1 in the Surrey Combination Cup.

Any hopes of promotion disappeared with a run of 19 league and cup games without a win,4 draws and 15 defeats, the worst run in the clubs history.During this period both Mick Smith and Richard Goffe stepped down due to work commitments.

With 14 games to go Richard Maybey was appointed manager but with 2 wins, 3 draws,9 defeats he could't save WATERS from a 2nd from bottom finnish.
